We Are Replay F/W 2009

Ah, a new season, a new ad campaign, once again featuring my future husband Boyd Holbrook.

This shoot gets me so excited for cold whether... leather, wool, scarves, tights, boots, and layering!

Alexander McQueen F/W 2009 Menswear

Alexander McQueen has been one of my favorite designers for a long time. His collections are consistently avant-garde and a little storybook. While I normally prefer his women's lines to his men's, I really liked this one. This particular show was called "The McQueensberry Rules" making reference to the name of a nineteenth century aristocrat well-known in boxing. And indeed this collection mixes in gentlemanly style with almost warrior-esque pieces resulting in a look reminiscent of Gangs of New York, mixed with a dash of Charles Dickens, and a smidgen of Gladiator.

Individually, most of the the pieces from this collection (save the breastplates and leather skirts) could be worn by men today, but collectively, they are more art than clothing with their hints of history and brawls and sex and Hollywood.
